Kasi Viswanathar Temple

Kasi Viswanathar Temple in Sivakasi, a town in Virudhunagar district in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu, is dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva. 

Sivakasi was established during the early 15th century CE. Between 1428 and 1460, a Pandya king Harikesari Parakkirama Pandian ruled the southern part of Madurai region, comprising the modern day Sivakasi and it surroundings. Sivakasi was a part of Madurai region during the 16th century. Madurai became independent from Vijayanagar Empire in 1559 under the Nayaks and the temple started receiving gifts from the rulers of the dynasty.There are no indication of history of the temple after the Nayak rule ended in 1736 and Madurai was repeatedly captured several times by Chanda Sahib (1740 – 1754), Arcot Nawab and Muhammed Yusuf Khan (1725 – 1764) in the middle of 18th century. In 1801, Madurai came under the direct control of the British East India Company and was annexed to the Madras Presidency.

As per Hindu legend, a Pandya king Harikesari Parakkirama Pandian wanted to construct a temple for Hindu god Shiva at Tenkasi and went to Kasi to bring a lingam, the most common iconic representation of Shiva in South India.

Sri Mariamman Temple

The temple celebrates a lot of festivals that attract devotees from all over the district. 

Most of the festivals usually happen during the Tamil month of Aadi, and Aadi Thiruvizha is the most illustrious festival celebrated on the name of the Goddess.
Additionally, many festivals are taken to Mariamman with the prayers of bringing rainfalls and healing diseases like chicken pox, Cholera and Small pox.

Sri Pathirakali Amman Temple

Sri Pathirakali Amman Temple, also spelled as Badrakaliamman Temple, is esteemed as the landmark of the cracker town of Sivakasi.

Apart from the fire cracker and safety matches industries, the term Sivakasi reminds of Sri Pathirakali Amman Temple to Tamil people as the temple is famous for its magnificent rajagopuram (the majestic temple tower).

It is believed that of all the amman temples of Tamil Nadu, the tower of Sri Pathirakali Amman Temple, Sivakasi is the tallest gopuram. The temple is dedicated to Pathirakali Amman, which is considered as one of the fierce kinds of the Goddess Devi.

CSI Ragland Memorial Church

This is a century old church built in memory of a great missionary from UK Mr.Ragland. He toiled all around Sivakasi preaching the teaching of Jesus Christ. He was presecuted many times and died in Sivakasi and his tomb is still there.. The church has grown over and is standing as a memorial and witness to this great missionary.

Constructed by Father Balaiya, Our Lady of Lord's church in Sivakasi portrays the beauty of Portuguese style of architecture. The church attracts thousands of devotees from all over the state throughout the year. The prayer hall of the church was constructed in a singular manner that it can accommodate 800 people at a time. Furthermore, almost eleven churches located around the town of Sivakasi are affiliated with Our Lady of Lord's Church. The Church primarily focuses on progressing humanity through education, besides functioning for the obliteration of Child Labor.
